Dental veneers are very thin, custom-made shells that are added to the front of a tooth to mask and perfectly complement facial features. Dental Veneers are part of our Cosmetic Dentistry services – which aims to restore, and improve smiles.
Do you have chipped or uneven teeth?
Veneers can be the perfect solution to encase the surface of your front teeth. You can gain a better smile by improving your teeth’ colour, reshaping their appearance, and hiding those imperfections.
What are dental veneers?
The two types of veneers are either porcelain or composite resin. The primary difference lies in the application, with porcelain veneers bonded to the tooth and composite veneers applied to the existing tooth, a layer at a time. The final outcome of veneers guarantees a realistic appearance.
Types of Dental Veneers
Porcelain veneers
Porcelain (ceramic) veneers are customised to mimic the appearance of a well-formed tooth. It is a very thin shell placed over the top of existing teeth to modify aspects of the appearance of the teeth. An advantage of porcelain veneers is their ability to reflect light and match surrounding natural teeth.
Composite resin veneers
Composite veneers can be built up directly in your mouth, with the veneers able to be bonded and moulded to the front of your teeth often in a single dentist visit.
Veneers of composite material tend to be more economical than porcelain but they are less durable and may be in need of replacement more often. Composite material is usually a combination of micro-fillers, such as glass beads and resin plastics.
